Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian artist and singer. She has more than twenty albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk-rock as well as alternative rock, but it has additional elements of punk, funk, hip hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco was the very first musician to start her own record company in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered to be a feminist icon. DiFranco was a born on the 23rd of September, 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father is Italian heritage, while her mother comes from Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and sang the track "32 Flavors". This track is on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. The song is featured on the film soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was discovered that she had planned to host a 3-day workshop at the site of a Louisiana ex-slave plantation. Many (including us) were not affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco made a retraction apology just a few days later than the initial. She is known for her Little Folksinger songs, however she's collaborated with many different genres and artists that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. New Orleans is where she is based.
