Alessia Cara

The singer released her debut single, Here in 2015 at the age of 19 years old. The song received praise both by music critics as well as listeners. The track reached the top 19 of both Billboard Hot 100 in Canada and on the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone listed the smash as one the top Songs of 2015. In the same year, she released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of the five tracks that were the first to reach Billboard's chart. This track was special since, in light of her Rap-Up interview she gave many of her listeners were able to connect to her experiences of finding love for themselves, and doubting her. Cara's music is known to include messages of kindness as well as self-love and mental wellbeing. Everything stems from her personal experience as she struggled with mental health issues as well as insomnia. According to an Reuters interview, the album is described as halfway tumultuous, half perfected. She says she grew through therapy, and encourages others to seek help when they need it. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since 1996. Her parents have Italian descent. Her parents gave her an instrument when she was 10 and this brought her to music. When she was 13she began covering songs she liked on YouTube to prove to people that she had talent and was able to pursue a career as an artist. Sweater Weather is among those covers that led to her being noticed at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label allowed her create new songs of her own.
